No. Transferring a domain also transfers its existing expiry date, there is no "reset" of your expiry date - you do not lose any "unused" registration time:
- A free transfer will carry the current expiry with it, which you can extend via a standard renewal at your convenience.
- A paid transfer will include a 1 year extension to your current expiry date.
For example: your current expiry is 10-Dec of this year. You transfer it on 10-Jun (6 months before it expires). Your domain name is moved into your account with us and retains its 10-Dec expiry (no time is lost). If you paid a transfer fee, this expiry will become 10-Dec +1 additional year.
