Welcome — let's get you online
Thanks for joining domain.co.nz. This quick guide shows you how to build a website and set up your email. No tech skills needed — we promise it's easy.

The three simple pieces
Being online is like having a shop. You need three things, and you've already started with the first one:
| Your domain name This is your address, like mybusiness.nz — how people find you. |
Your website This is your shop itself — the pages people see when they visit. |
Your email Your own mailbox, like you@mybusiness.nz, so you look professional. |
First, switch on hosting
Your website and your email both run on web hosting — think of it as the engine that powers them. Some plans include it already. If your domain doesn't have hosting yet, it's just one click to add:
- Open the Domain Manager.
- Find your domain and, on the right of its row, click the dashed plus button + (hover over it and it says “Get web hosting & email”). It only appears on domains that don't have hosting yet.
- Pick a plan and pay — that's it. All the tools below switch on straight away.
Make your website
You don't need to know how to code. We give you two free tools — pick whichever sounds more fun. Both come with your web hosting.

Easiest
Design StudioJust describe your business in a few words and Design Studio builds a website for you. Don't like something? Ask it to change it, and it does. When you're happy, click Publish and you're live. |
Most control
SiteJetA friendly drag-and-drop builder. Start from a ready-made design, then move things around, swap the words and pictures, and make it yours. Great if you like to tinker. |
How to start
- Log in and open the Domain Manager.
- Find your domain and look at its hosting row.
- Click the Design Studio button or the SiteJet button.
- Build your pages, then hit Publish. That's it — your website is live.

Set up your email
Email at your own name (like hello@mybusiness.nz) looks far more trustworthy than a free address. Just like your website, it needs hosting — so if you switched that on above, you're ready. Here are your two tools:

Your own inbox
MailboxesCreate real mailboxes at your domain — one for you, or one for each person on your team. Read and send email on your phone or computer, just like normal. |
Redirect mail
Email ForwardingPrefer to keep the inbox you already use? Forwarding quietly sends any message from you@mybusiness.nz straight to your usual email address. |
How to start
- Open the Domain Manager and find your domain's hosting row.
- Click Mailboxes to make a new email address and choose a password.
- Or click Email Forwarding to send mail on to an inbox you already have.
- Add the new mailbox to your phone or email app, and you're ready to send.
| Prefer not to do it yourself? Your personal assistant can set it all up for you — new mailboxes, forwarders and more. Just click it on any page and tell it what you want, for example “create hello@mybusiness.nz” or “forward sales@mybusiness.nz to my Gmail”. |
Where to find everything
Almost everything lives in one place: the Domain Manager (www.domain.co.nz/domains). Log in, and each of your domains has its own row with buttons for your website tools, mailboxes, and settings. If you ever feel lost, that's the place to go first.
Prefer to use another service?
That's totally fine — you don't have to host with us. If you'd rather build your website or run your email somewhere else (like Squarespace, Wix or Shopify), just click your personal assistant on any page and tell it what you'd like to use. It will help you point your domain to them, step by step.
